Presidency Releases Video Of Buhari’s Shoot-On-Sight Order For AK-47 Handlers - Edoman - 03-12-2021 The Presidency has released a video showing President Muhammadu Buhari ordering security agents to shoot on sight any civilian seen with AK-47 rifle, Igbere TV reports. Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu had said on March 3 that his principal gave specific orders to military commanders to shoot any civilian bearing AK-47 rifle. Several persons argued that the president should have given the order himself. However, on Thursday, the Presidency released a 14-second video clip showing the president issuing the order. In the clip, Buhari said, Quote:“Anybody with AK-47 should be shot because AK-47 is supposed to be registered and it is only given to security officials.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oqQsHttxLA https://twitter.com/NGRPresident/status/1370070540602511364?s=19 The order came in the wake of concerns about herders carrying AK-47 rifles. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and his Bauchi State counterpart Bala Mohammed clashed recently on whether herders should wield AK-47 or not. |
