Order release of Shehu Mahdi now – Northern youths tell President Buhari - Edoman - 03-07-2021 Order release of Shehu Mahdi now – Northern youths tell President Buhari   on  March 7, 2021 The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to intervene and release activist Mahdi Shehu, who is being detained by the Nigeria Police despite a Court order. Addressing newsmen in Kaduna, spokesman of the group, Abubakar Isah demanded that all International intervention funds and grants to Katsina State government should be suspended until Mahdi regains his freedom. The youth also called on the Amnesty International to urgently look into the violation of human right of Mahdi by the Katsina State government. They enjoined the EFCC to immediately commence investigation on the alleged diversion of 52 billion Naira tax payers’ money. The youths said that it was inappropriate to hunt down a man who raised his voice for the benefit of the voiceless majority of Northern Nigeria and Katsina State in particular. “We expect his allegation to be challenged by facts and figures, not intimidation by the Katsina state government. “Governor Masari who has been a victim of injustice in the past shouldn’t have been the one carrying out this unlawful confinement of his brother,” they stated.
