Niger state governor dismisses reports that abducted Kagara students have been released

Niger State governor, Sani Bello, has dismissed reports that the Kagara students and teachers who were abducted by suspected bandits on Wednesday, February 17, have been released.
 
A few hours ago, rumor was rife on social media that the abducted students have been released from captivity.
 
Dismissing this claim at a press conference this afternoon, Governor Bello said
Quote:''“Everything that is being said out there is rumour and in situations like this, we cannot work with rumour, it has to be confirmed. Yes, we’ve been receiving different rumours from different people within villages but we are still treating those as rumour until processed and confirmed.”

I won’t resign over abduction of Kagara students - Niger state Governor, Abubakar Bello

Governor Abubakar Bello has said that he won't resign over the abduction of students and staff from Government Science College Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State. 
 
The Governor said this after some groups made a public call for him to resign over the abduction. 
 
Responding to calls for his resignation while addressing newsmen today February 19, Bello averred that he is not considering it as this is the first time such incident is happening. 
 
He said; 
 
Quote:“I am not considering resigning anything. This is the first time students are being kidnapped in this state”.
