A tragic incident reportedly occurred in Agwu community of Enugu state on Wednesday October 28, as a truck knocked a school bus into a ditch.
Facebook user, Duru Divinegift who shared photos from the scene of the acident, alleged that about 15 pupils, a teacher and others reportedly died in the accident.
He wrote;

On the day time of 28th of October, 2020, Tragedy has befallen Awgu Town, Awgu Local Government Area in Enugu State as truck crushed a School Bus who is on the way to convey school children back to their various destinations into a ditch.
Not less than 15 Pupils + a teacher and other external adults who was affected by the accident, lost their dear life in the cold hand of death.others are been left in critical conditions.
Can't sleep tonight.

Quote:No less than 21 persons including pupils have died in an accident involving school children at Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stated this while confirming the tragic incident to journalists on Thursday.
Igbere TV had earlier reported that the accident occurred after the brake of a company truck failed and rammed into a pupil filled school bus.
A source, Spartan Arinze, told our correspondent that the pupils who are mostly the victims including some staff died immediately after the accident.
The tragic accident also claimed the lives of a roadside tyre repairer, cyclist and mechanic, the source said.
Enugu Sector Commander Ogbonna Kalu in confirmation of the credible report made earlier by IGBERE TV said the incident occurred on Wednesday between a school bus and a truck.
“Twenty-one persons have been confirmed dead and more than 50 persons were in the school bus,” he said.
“Also of note is that not all the deaths were school children. Those working on the roadside were part of the casualties.”
He added that intelligence gathered showed the accident was caused by “dangerous driving”.
Others who survived the ghastly accident were taken to University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Enugu where they are receiving medical treatments.

It was a sad day in Enugu state today November 9, as the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, joined the Catholic faithful and families of eight pupils of Presentation Nursery and Primary School, Awgu, who died in a recent fatal road accident in Awgu Local Government Area of the state, to celebrate a Requiem Mass for them at the school premises, in Awgu town.
The accident happened on October 28.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who described the eight pupils as “angles” bade farewell to them, their late teacher, Emmanuella Chukwugbo and the school bus driver, Chukwu Basil, as well as other victims.
Quote:“Our children; our angels; had gone too soon and too suddenly; for no fault of their own.
They were too innocent to have offended anyone; too young to have known sin; they only attended the day’s school; to acquire knowledge and high moral values; Yes, they were on their way home; to unite, as usual, with their beloved parents and siblings; a journey home that was never completed; what a tragedy!
As Christians, we submit to the will of the most High God, who alone, knows why it happened. We accept our faith and find consolation in the conviction that our deceased angels are early arrivals in heaven; already seated in the midst of the heavenly host, praising God and glorifying his name”.

While sympathizing with the management of the school, Gov. Ugwuanyi donated a brand new 18-seater bus to the school and promised to erect a monument at the scene of the accident to immortalize the school children.
