Residents ignore explosion threat, scoop fuel from fallen tanker in Delta community - Edoman - 10-29-2020 Residents ignore explosion threat, scoop fuel from fallen tanker in Delta community Residents of communities along Kwale-Ogwashi Uku expressway in Delta State defied possible explosion on Wednesday, October 28, and trooped out to scoop fuel from a fallen tanker. It was gathered that the tanker carrying about 13,000 litres of petrol to be discharged at Adagor filling station in Ogwashi Uku fell in the morning between Obikwele and Ossisa communities near Kwale in Ndokwa west council of the state. The cause of the crash was sketchy, however, unconfirmed report said the driver dozed off before the accident occurred.   Photos and video posted by an eyewitness, Henry Emili, shows villagers at the scene with cans and buckets scooping fuel. Others could be seen running towards the scene with cans. Mr Henry called on appropriate authorities and community leaders to educate residents on the risk involved in scooping contents of fallen tankers.   "Emergency situation!!! The leadership of obikwele community, ossissa community, iselegu community,onitcha ukwuani community to be aware of the risks involved in their people going to take fuel from the oil and gas tanker that fell across the express road close to obikwele junction under this hot sun," he wrote.   "Our people should take precautions in taking risks for a free meal as life is very delicate God forbid we hear bad news from it. Please share this message to save ignorant lives." he added.
