Daily Devotional for Tuesday 20th October - Edoman - 10-20-2020

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY 20TH OCTOBER.

JESUS IS THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF GOD BY

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? (John 14:8-9).

The Bible says in Jesus dwells the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form (Colossians 2:9), meaning anyone who wants to know what God looks like should look at Jesus. No wonder Jesus said to Philip, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” Jesus is the express image of the Father’s Person.

Some believe that, in heaven, there’re three thrones: one for the Father, one for the Son, Jesus, and then another for the Holy Spirit; but that’s not true. The Father joyfully appointed Jesus as the heir of all things, including His throne
Thus in heaven, there’s only one throne, and Jesus is the one sitting on that throne. Where then is the Father? He’s in Jesus!

The Bible says it pleased the Father, that in Him (Jesus) should all fullness dwell (Colossians 1:19). Then Colossians 2:9 lets us know that in Him (Jesus) dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

 If you’ve seen Jesus, you’ve seen the Father. No wonder when He said in John 10:30, “I and my Father are one,” the Jews picked up stones and wanted to kill Him; why? They said He made Himself equal with God: “…for blasphemy, and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God” (John 10:33).

The Jews understood what Jesus meant when He said, “I and my Father are one.” But they considered His words blasphemous because they didn’t know who He was. Jesus is the perfect image and icon of the Godhead.

He’s the expression of God’s glory, and by inheritance, He obtained a more excellent Name in all of heaven and earth. Philippians 2:9-11 declares, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” He’s the King of kings, and Lord of lords. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, I ascribe to you all glory, honour and majesty. You’re the joy of heaven, and the bright morning star! You’re the beauty of divinity, and the perfect expression of the Father’s person. I worship and adore you precious Saviour, for there’s none like you! May your kingdom reign in the earth, and be established forever in the hearts of all men. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I am God’s choice and the Spirit of God has granted me insight and foresight into the realities of the Kingdom.

I am rooted and grounded in the Word; therefore, I am immune to failure or defeat. I am mightily blessed of the lord. Circumstances are turned around for my good today as I speak forth the Word in faith.

 I receive the blessings of the Spirit through the Word into my life and declare that my mind is renewed, and my life is transformed by the latent power of God’s Word.

I am in God’s place for my life; I walk in preordained pathways, conscious of my calling as a minister of reconciliation.

 My mind is anointed to think the “God-kind” of thoughts. As I meditate on God’s Word, I build a wealth of thoughts that keep me in the arena of glory, health, and prosperity, causing me to live the best life here on earth.

 I am filled with the fullness of God. Hallelujah! I have received not the spirit of this world, but the spirit,
which is of God; that I may know the things that are freely given unto me of God.

Which things also I speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches. Hallelujah!

I am a Joint-heir with Christ; the seed of Abraham and the whole world belongs to me. Nothing is permitted to happen to me by chance! Everywhere I go, I make things happen.

I am not the poor trying to get rich but I am the rich discovering what belongs to me in Christ Jesus. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

RE: Daily Devotional for Tuesday 20th October - Edoman - 10-20-2020

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.

DATE: TUESDAY 20TH OCTOBER, 2020.

THEME: BE SANCTIFIED.

MEMORIZE:
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
Ephesians 5:26

BIBLE READING: COLOSSIANS 3:5-17

5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6. For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving
one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so a so do ye.

14. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

MESSAGE:
Some people keep returning to sin over and over, despite having asked Jesus to come into their lives.

They wonder how others live above sin. The answer is sanctification. When a person is sanctified, he/she loses the taste for sin.

The Bible describes it in Hebrews 1:9:

“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

When a person is sanctified, sinful habits that used to excite him/her become irritating.

As a result, the fellow is able to lead a life of holiness in Christ.

Sanctification is the grace of God that helps man to live above sin.
If you are still struggling with sin, then you need to be sanctified.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9″

To be sanctified, you must first confess all your sins to God (1 John 1:9).

You can also experience sanctification if you are an avid student of the word of God.

John 17:17 says:

”Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

If you want to enjoy your Christian life; feed on the word of God. David said in Psalm 119:11:

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

The more of God’s word you study, the more sin will disgust you.

If you are always studying your Bible, God’s word will begin to influence the way you see things and how you behave.

The word of God has a Spirit which gives life, and that life, being Jesus will enter into you as you study it daily. It is Jesus who makes it easy for you to live holy.

Take up the challenge today and you will overcome sin, in the mighty name of Jesus.

ACTION POINT:
Study at least one chapter of the Bible by yourself daily. You need the word to stay sanctified.

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR:
MATTHEW 17:1-27,

MARK 9:1-50,

LUKE 9:28-62

1. Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold

5. Take my will and make it
Thine It shall be no longer mine;

*RESTORATION TODAY*

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2020

*TOPIC: THE TEACHER OF TEACHERS*

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1

*MESSAGE*
Sincere learning requires honesty, humility and hard work. No matter how we try to spy, observe or imitate, our mastery cannot be excellent. We must, therefore, be prepared to learn from the one who knows, whether spiritual or secular. We must have genuine zeal, be humble in our approach and give the dedication it deserves.

The disciples directly approached the Master to learn how to pray; this should motivate us to humbly ask the same Master on any issue.  The scriptures and the Holy Spirit will complement our efforts, once we are ready to learn.

Let's shun pride and self righteousness. Wisdom, knowledge, revelation and understanding are God's prerogatives. You want to learn; you've got to first admit you don't know. Imitation, observation and understudying have their limitations. Be a proud perpetual pupil of the Lord; approach Jesus the Great Teacher daily for (new) knowledge.

*ACTION POINT*
 ?️  Be ready and willing to learn from God every day.

*SCRIPTURES*
Psalm 10:17; 19:14; Romans 8:26-27

*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Father, thank You for giving me Your Spirit to teach me.

2. Lord, humble me to learn from You in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, grant me the understanding of Your teachings for my development and success in the name of Jesus.

*THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR*
