Governor Nyesom Wike had placed a ban on the protest, saying its aim of having the notorious police unit the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) scrapped had already been achieved. The protesters, however, lamented that youths cannot continue to be killed by the police. Some of the placards they held read “EndSARS”, “We are tired of dying”, and “Protest is our right”.
