Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Thursday June 4, led other senators to the residence of Abia-born lawmaker Orji Uzor Kalu who was released from prison this week.
Recall that the Chief Whip of the upper legislative chamber regained freedom on Wednesday June 3, months after being jailed following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 36 counts of money laundering to the tune of N7.1 billion.
Others on the senate who visited Orji Uzor Kalu include Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe and Deputy Whip, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.

Federal Lawmakers From Abia Visit Orji Kalu Following Release
According to IgbereTV reports, members of the House of Representatives from Abia, on Saturday paid a solidarity visit to the former Governor of Abia State and senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Dr Orji Kalu, following his release from Kuje prison.
The report disclosed that the lawmakers were hosted at Kalu's Aso Villa home as he thanked them for their support and solidarity during his incarceration.
In attendance at the meeting was the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Rep. Nkiru Onyejeocha, who led the visit, others were Rep. Darlynton Nwokocha, Rep. Sam Onuigbo and Rep. Benjamin Kalu, spokesperson of the House and member representing Bende Federal Constituency.

Igbere TV reports that the Enugu-West lawmaker met with the senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Kalu at Aso Villa residence on Sunday.
The former Governor of Abia was released from Abuja correctional centre following order of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on June 02 ordering his immediate release.
Justice Mohammed Liman, who ordered Kalu’s release, also quashed the 12-year jail term imposed on him last December 5 by Justice Mohammed Idris.

Senator Rochas Okorocha and his wife, Ugo Nneoma Okorocha on sunday paid a private visit to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu at his palatial Aso Villa home in Abuja.
Recall that Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State recently regained his freedom from the prison after the Supreme Court of Nigeria annulled his conviction on alleged corruption related offence. The Supreme Court ruled that his conviction was illegal on the ground that the trial judge lacked jurisdiction over the case.
Although the reason for the visit was not disclosed to the Newsmen, it may however not be unconnected with show of solidarity to the Senator, who currently represents Abia North at the National Assembly.
Senator Okorocha is the Senator representing Imo West. Both of the National Assembly have served their respective States as Governors.

The House of Representatives Aspirant leadership on Monday paid a visit the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in his Aso Villa residence, Abuja, following his release from Kuje prison, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV learnt that the delegates were led by the Deputy Speaker of the green chamber.
In attendance at the meeting was Deputy Chief Whip, Hon Nkiru Onyejeocha, Spokesman of the House, Hon Benajmin Kalu, and Majority Leader House of Representatives, Hon. Alhasan Doguwa.
