Oil workers must show COVID-19 results before entering Rivers – Governor Nyesom Wike - Edoman - 05-04-2020 Oil workers must show COVID-19 results before entering Rivers – Governor Nyesom Wike declares, places Port Harcourt on total lockdown In a bid to stop the importation of the novel Coronavirus to the state, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that any oil worker who intends to come into the state for work, must present his or her COVID-19 test result before they will be allowed access into the state. River state currently has 14 confirmed cases of COVID19. He gave the order during a state wide broadcast today May 4. Quote:''In the last few days, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has diagnosed several positive cases of COVID-19 infections in the State, some of whom were persons flown into the State by Oil and Gas Companies for their operations. He also announced a total lockdown of Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas for flouting COVID-19 advisories despite repeated warnings.
