How to remove moles without surgery - Talyorss44 - 05-02-2020

Moles are groups of pigmented cells that can appear anywhere on the skin (either alone or in groups) as brown, black, or yellowish spots. If you have a mole that you want to remove, the safest and most effective way to do this is by professional removal by a doctor. It is a simple outpatient process to treat benign, non-cancerous moles that only takes a few minutes. If you try to remove the mole by yourself, it could lead to scarring, bleeding, infection, and the possibility of skipping a cancerous mole. If you really don't want to have surgery, try to fade the appearance of the mole using an unproven home remedy.

Make an appointment with a dermatologist. Removing a mole in the safest way is a decision you will not regret. It is extremely important that a professional examine your mole instead of trying to remove it yourself, even if you only want to do it for cosmetic reasons. When you visit the doctor, he will be able to determine if the mole is potentially cancerous. If it is, professional removal will be the only safe method, since other methods will not adequately treat cancer cells.

  • If you don't have a dermatologist, ask your GP to refer you to one.

  • If you do not have health insurance, check to see if there is a health clinic in your area that provides the moles removal service or refers you to other places.

  • Please note that some doctors may remove moles in their own office.
Determine if a biopsy is necessary. At your medical appointment, your doctor will examine the shape, edges, size, color, and texture of your mole's surface to see if it could be cancerous. [1] If the mole shows common symptoms of melanoma or another type of skin cancer, the doctor will order a biopsy to check for cancer cells. If there are no symptoms of cancer, the doctor may proceed with the removal of the mole. Usually, the sample will be sent for analysis even if the mole does not appear cancerous.
    • To perform a biopsy, a sample will be removed from the mole using a cut or bore biopsy. Then it will be sent to the laboratory for examination.
    • If the test is positive, further treatment will be required. If it turns out negative, you can decide to keep the mole or take it off.
  • See if cutting the mole with a blade is a viable option. This surgical procedure consists of removing the skin mole by cutting it from the surface of the skin with a knife. In this method, the doctor will administer a local anesthetic near the mole so that you do not feel pain during the process (with the exception of a needle stick). No stitches are required to heal a surgical cut with a blade. The procedure will leave a small scar. [2]

    • In some cases, the area will also need to be cauterized with an instrument that burns some layers of skin to reduce the chances of the mole growing back.

    • This method will probably only be available for relatively small, non-cancerous moles. The moles that cover a larger area of skin are too large to be cut and seared.
Undergo surgical removal if necessary. If the mole is cancerous, or if it is large and covers a large part of the skin, you may need to have it removed by surgical removal. After applying local anesthesia, the dermatologist will make a deep cut to remove the mole and surrounding tissues, thus preventing it from growing back. Then the wound is closed with special sutures that will leave a minimal scar. [3]

      • Although this may sound like a great thing to you, surgical removal is actually a quick, outpatient medical procedure. The extraction of the mole will take between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on its size.

      • Since only a local anesthetic will be applied, at the end of the procedure you will be in good condition to drive home and continue your day as normal.

      • Be sure to care for the wound according to the doctor's instructions. Then, you may need to return to his office to have your stitches removed.

      • Note that the incision for this procedure is very small. If there is hair growth, the doctor will cut the root of the hair.
