Funke Akindele Arrested For Hosting Party Despite Lockdown - Edoman - 04-06-2020

Quote:Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has been arrested by the police for violating restriction orders in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

A statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bala Elkana on Sunday said the attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons mainly in the entertainment industry in an Estate, along Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organised by Funke Akindele Bello and her husband.

“Police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location. Funke Akindele was arrested. Investigation is ongoing.

“Efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz.

“They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted,” he said.

'I pray I survive this. I'm so broken' - Funke Akindele writes in tweet after arrest over house party

Funke Akindele shared her anguish on Twitter, just after being arrested by the Lagos State Police for violating a lockdown order on Coronavirus. 
 
Recall that the Lagos State Government had issued an order which banned a public gathering of more than 20 people. 
 
However the actress incited outrage today after being spotted in a viral video hosting a crowded birthday party for her husband, JJC Skillz on his 43rd birthday. 
 
LIB reported earlier that Funke Akindele was arrested for violating restriction orders in Lagos. The Lagos State Police also disclosed that efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and the actress' husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz.
 
However after being arrested, the actress wrote in a tweet she shared by 7:58pm;

NCDC, Dettol react to Funke Akindele's arrest...

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC and Dettol Nigeria, have both reacted after the Lagos state police command this evening arrested actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, for flouting the lockdown order in Lagos state.
 
Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz had a birthday party at their Amen estate home in Lagos state last night and was attended by quite a number of people which contravenes the social distancing order of the Lagos state government. She was picked up by men of the Lagos state police command this evening while her husband, singer Naira Marley have been asked to come forward for questioning.
 
Recall that shortly after the Coronavirus pandemic began in Lagos, Funke ran a video campaign sponsored by Dettol. In the video, she emphasised on the need for Nigerians to practice proper hygiene such as washing of their hands and social distancing. Many Nigerians on Twitter this morning bashed her for flouting the social distancing she advised Nigerians about in her campaign ad for Dettol.
 
Shortly after the news of her arrest broke, Dettol Nigeria on its Twiter page, said as a responsible organization, it does not condone any breach of the guidelines on Covid-19 and are concerned about the turn of events. NCDC on its part said it has not engaged brand ambassdors as part of its response to COVID-19.
