RE: Coronavirus: Nurses step over dead bodies piled up on hospital floor - Edoman - 04-11-2020 US becomes the first country to mark 2,000 Coronavirus deaths in 24 hours with 500,000 cases The US on Friday, became the first country in the world to record 2,000 deaths in 24 hours making it the deadliest day from the Coronavirus pandemic any country has so far seen. In a dark day for the country's health sector, the total number of Americans infected also ballooned to 500,000 as the Trump led nation with almost 18,798 deaths edges closer to Italy's death toll of 18,849. New York made up almost half of the total death toll across the US and accounted for about a third of all deaths with over 7,000 deaths already in the state. New Jersey is the second hardest-hit, with infections topping 54,588 and deaths reaching 1,932. Dr Fauci, a member of the White House coronavirus taskforce, on Friday warned it was too early to relax the government issued lockdown even though New York was showing positive results in the battle against coronavirus. 'What we're seeing right now is favorable signs,' Fauci said in an interview on CNN on Friday. 'We would want to see a clear indication that you were very, very clearly and strongly going in the right direction, because the one thing you don't want to do is you don't want to get out there prematurely and then wind up back in the same situation. 'The virus kind of decides whether or not it's going to be appropriate to open,' he said. 'We're going in the right direction, let's keep in that direction,' Dr Fauci said. 'Obviously we're looking for the kinds of things that would indicate that we can go forward in a gradual way to essentially reopen the country to a more normal way,' Fauci said, adding that it depended on a number of factors. Over 20,000 have died from Coronavirus in United States, a heartbreaking development that came just after the North-American country became the first nation to record more than 2,000 virus deaths in a single day. Italy has so far reported 19,468 coronavirus deaths while the US has recorded 20,608 fatalities, according to the Johns Hopkins tally. There are now at least 529,951 recorded cases of Covid-19 across the US. Public health experts have warned the US death toll could reach 200,000 over the summer, if unprecedented stay-at-home orders that have closed businesses and kept most Americans indoors are lifted when they expire at the end of the month. In the last few days, the number of new deaths each day has been about three times higher on average in the US than in Italy. About half the deaths in the US were in the New York metropolitan area. Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo however said on Saturday April 11, that the state's death toll appeared to be stabilising. He said; Quote:"You can see that the number is somewhat stabilizing, but it is stabilizing at a horrific rate. These are just incredible numbers depicting incredible loss and pain. Cuomo also averred that the state's curve "is continuing to flatten." He added; Quote:"The number of hospitalizations appears to have hit an apex, and the apex appears to be a plateau. Saturday marked the first time every US state was under a federal disaster declaration simultaneously, after President Donald Trump approved one such declaration for Wyoming. RE: Coronavirus: Nurses step over dead bodies piled up on hospital floor - Edoman - 04-12-2020 World Wrestling Entertainment confirms first case of Coronavirus ahead of Monday Night 'Raw' World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has confirmed the first COVID-19 case after someone in its ranks got infected with the Coronavirus. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the infected individual is an on-camera talent, but not a wrestler. The publication said the person whose ID was not disclosed started experiencing Coronavirus symptoms late in March after the WWE’s final batch of tapings, together with WrestleMania 36. They believed the individual contracted the virus after going out to dinner with friends who work in the health care industry. Confirming the case, WWE said in a statement: “We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE’s TV production on a closed set was already complete. The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery.” News of the positive case comes after WWE confirmed they will be resuming live tapings without fans, starting Monday at WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida. “We believe it is now more important than ever to provide people with a diversion from these hard times,” WWE told ESPN. “We are producing content on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance following appropriate guidelines while taking additional precautions to ensure the health and wellness of our performers and staff. As a brand that has been woven into the fabric of society, WWE and its Superstars bring families together and deliver a sense of hope, determination and perseverance.” The next Monday Night Raw show is scheduled for Monday on USA. Edoman - 04-13-2020 Peru police arrest Chinese man for illegal COVID-19 testing Police in Peru on Sunday arrested a Chinese citizen for illegally conducting rapid COVID-19 tests on the public with newly-delivered kits stolen from Peru’s health ministry. Tianxing Zhang, 36, was arrested in the Brena district of Lima as he was about to take samples from two women at the door of their house, police said. He "was proceeding to carry out rapid tests for COVID-19 with kits that he had stolen" from the Lima Sur health authority where he worked, according to a police statement. Zhang was wearing a mask and a light blue medical apron at the time of his arrest by the state security police. Both women had paid him to carry out a rapid home test, without health ministry approval. "When questioned, he acknowledged he was not authorized to carry out this rapid test and that the Rapid Diagnostic Tests had been stolen from the Directorate of Integrated Health Network of Lima Sur where he had worked," the police said. According to the police, the bespectacled Zhang confessed to stealing two batches of the test to use, for monetary gain, on people who suspected they were ill with the coronavirus. Police found a backpack with 25 COVID-19 tests and other medical supplies at his home, according to AFP. Sandy Brown of Grand Blanc said she’s suffering from 'indescribable grief ' after losing her husband, Freddie Lee Brown Jr. and son Freddie Lee Brown III within a short period of time. ?????? “There’s not even a word created to describe my pain. It’s unimaginable,” she said. According to Detriot News, Sandy's husband fell sick in March, coming down with chills and muscle aches. The 59-year-old who had a kidney transplant began having trouble breathing and was admitted to Ascension Genesys Hospital, the outlet reported. He later tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed on a ventilator. Few days later, Sandy received a call that his lung collapsed and to rush to the hospital, where she learned that doctors were unable to save him, according to the report. When Nurses told her not to go into his hospital room, she insisted, putting on protective gear to say goodbye to her husband, the newspaper reported. “I’m going in that room,” she reportedly told them. “I don’t care what I have to do. I’ll sign whatever I need to sign.” The next day, her 20-year-old son, Freddie III, who had asthma became sick with a fever and a cough. Sandy took him to the same hospital, where his health improved before he began struggling to breathe, the outlet reported. Three days after her husband’s death, the heartbroken woman received the same call from the hospital asking her to quickly rush down to the hospital, where she was later informed that her son had also succumbed to the virus. “In three days, I lost my husband and son to an ugly plague,” Sandy told the newspaper. “I watched my son go from completely well and whole and happy to being gone in three days.” RE: Coronavirus: Nurses step over dead bodies piled up on hospital floor - Edoman - 04-13-2020 Coronavirus: 15-year-old girl commits suicide after 'struggling to cope with the pressure of stay-at-home orders' A teenage girl in California died by suicide after she reportedly struggled to cope with the stay-at-home orders amid the Coronavirus outbreak. 15-year-old Jo’Vianni Smith of Stockton was found dead inside her home after she hanged herself last week. A coach at Jo’Vianni's school, Bear Creek High School, told Recordnet that 'the cause of death reportedly was due to the stresses and pressures from coping with the self-isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.' Her mother, Danielle Hunt, also said she believes that stress from the health crisis may have played a role in her daughter's death, according to the outlet. “I felt that I was doing all that I could as a parent to leave the communication open,” Hunt told the news station, adding that “sometimes we may need to stop and worry about the kids that we don’t think we need to worry about,” adding that Jo’Vianni did not leave a note behind. Hunt described her daughter as 'bubbly,' 'loving,' and the light of her world. 'It’s like, how do you explain a girl like her? If you met her one time, like, she made an impact in your life,' she said. See his last post from his sick bed Popular sports photographer, Anthony Causi has died of Coronavirus weeks after he took to Instagram from his sick bed to state his plans for when he recovers from the deadly virus. Anthony Causi, a New York Post sports photographer, died on Sunday, April 12, from COVID-19 at North Shore University Hospital. He was 48. Causi is survived by his wife, Romina, and their children John, 5, and Mia, 2, as well as his parents, Lucille and John Causi, and sisters Maria Marangelli and Dianna Marotto. “Anthony Causi was our colleague, our friend, and a brilliant journalist,” said Stephen Lynch, The Post’s editor-in-chief. “He was, quite simply, one of the best sports photographers in New York City, capturing all the major moments of the past 25 years. Soft-spoken, funny, but most of all kind — he was respected by those he photographed and admired by those with whom he worked. "The Post that you read, and the newsroom that we work in, are less colorful today because of his absence. Our hearts go out to his family, and we share their grief.” Causi's job as a sports photographer brought him in close contact with a number of successful athletes, including the late Kobe Bryant. Less than three months ago, following the death of Kobe, Causi was one of those who took to Instagram to mourn him while sharing a photo of them together. Unfortunately, Causi contracted the deadly Coronavirus in March, but he had faith that he would recover and he even took to Instagram to share his plans for when he recovers. Sharing a photo of him on his hospital bed, he wrote on March 22, "I never thought I would get something like this. I thought I was indestructible. If I do make it out of here, I promise you this, the world's not going to know what hit it." Unfortunately, Anthony Causi's condition worsened and he died 3 weeks after he shared his last Instagram post. Sports lovers, athletes, and Causi's former colleagues have gone online to mourn the much-loved sports photographer. Edoman - 04-15-2020 Donald Trump stops US funding to WHO for ‘covering up’ coronavirus with China President Donald Trump on Tuesday April 14, announced that he has stopped US' funding of the World Health Organization over its "role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of coronavirus." The US President who disclosed that a review is currently being conducted, stated that the UN agency failed "in its basic duty”. He added that the most dangerous and costly decisions from the WHO, was its disastrous decision to oppose travel restrictions from China and other nations. Trump told journalist at the White House; Quote:“Today I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus. WHO executive director Dr Michael Ryan had hailed China for its ‘transparency’ with the coronavirus outbreak in January. But US intelligence officials now believe the country’s communist government told multiple lies about their outbreak, and think the official death toll of 3,400 is way under the true figure of around 40,000 people killed. At Tuesday's press briefing, Trump directly accused China of covering up the threat of coronavirus, in contrast to a tweet he sent on January 24. The tweet read; Quote:'China has been working very hard to contain the coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American people, I want to thank President Xi!’ President Trump stopped US funding of the WHO, barely a week after the international health organization Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom accused him of ‘playing politics’ with the crisis. RE: Coronavirus: Nurses step over dead bodies piled up on hospital floor - Edoman - 04-15-2020 Coronavirus: Sex scandals hit COVID-19 centres as those in quarantine are now 'engaging in sexual acts' with each other The Ministry of Health permanent secretary in Uganda has revealed that people living in institutional quarantine in Uganda have started having sex with each other. According to WatchDog Uganda, Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine made the claims during a recent interview on Radio One talk show, saying most of the people quarantined at hotels now move to rooms of others to go sleep with themselves. She said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is greatly concerned because the practice is jeopardizing the government’s efforts to curb the spreading of Coronavirus in Uganda. “Ugandans are not serious. Some who are in quarantine have even begun having (sexual) affairs. They move to rooms of others in the hotels where we have placed them. Others like in Mulago move from their rooms to visit their colleagues who are in other rooms, this is too dangerous and it will distract our efforts,” said Atwiine. According to her, this was the reason some people have not been released ever since they learnt about this practice. The discovery comes weeks after the country's Ministry of Health announced 17 places to be used as isolation centres. The places include Hotels, Hospitals, lodges, and Universities, where over 232 people are placed under quarantine Uganda has over 50 cases of Coronavirus with 7 recoveries.
