At least, 13 students of the Kogi State University situated in Ayingba have been reported killed by some people suspected to be cult members between Friday and (today) Monday.

Among those killed were Oloruntoba Godwin, a 300-level student of Geography and Ajikeye Richard of the department of Accountancy, also a 200-level student. Both students are said to be indigenes of Ijumu Local Government Area of kogi state.

Some of the injured students were said to have been rushed to the hospital while the whole student community was said to be tensed, a development, which made many students to have traveled out of town

It was reliably gathered on Monday that the said crisis was said to have been ignited when a student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja suspected to be a kingpin of a cult group was said to have been killed.

His killing was said to have been fueled by another cult group linked to the state university in Ayingba, which sparked up a provocation, leading to a reprisal attack as the said cult group was alleged to have threatened to kill 12 students in retaliation.
According to an eyewitness, the KSU killings started on Friday when three students were hacked down in the campus while nine others were killed at different places including a 200 level female student and her boyfriend.
Some of the killings, it was learnt took place at the Stadium Road and Our Lady Fatima Lodge where the victims were said to have been brutally murdered and their body parts dismembered.

Investigations revealed that the school authority seems to be indifferent about the whole situation as the killings continue unabated.

When the university PRO Joseph Edegbo was contacted, he declined comment on the issue, saying it was a ‘’very sensitive issue” but promised to get back to our correspondent.
Sources, who spoke to newsmen, however, condemned the dastardly act and demanded for immediate investigation, arrest and prosecution of the criminals behind the murder.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Busari, confirmed the incident, but said only three students were said to have been killed.
He said no arrest has been made so far but that crack detectives have been drafted into the school to put an end to the killings.

Cultists Go On Killing Spree In Kogi State University

In the last few days there have been reported cases of massive killings in Kogi State University, KSU, as cult groups wreak havoc on students.

A report puts the killings in the institution at 13 as at Monday.

The management of the institution are yet to react to the killings, but some students of the school have been venting their anger over the inability of the school’s authority to handle the issue and bring the cultists to book.

Twitter is littered with various reports by students of the institution calling for prayers over massive cult killings in KSU.

A student of the school who goes by the name, Labzy Usuff on Twitter said “They’ve been continuous killings in Kogi state University yet the management did not do anything about it.”

Another student, who simply preferred to be called by the name, Chemical Boy, lamented that that on November 1, a student was shot dead, the same day a student of the University of Benin was shot dead by cultists.

Sources in the school alleged that 10 students were killed in one day by cultists with several students resorting to prayers and calling on the public to pray for the institution.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kogi State Police Command, DSP William Ovye Aya, said it could not be true that about 13 people have been killed in the school, but said he would confirm and get back to PM News.

He later called to confirm the clash, saying that five students were killed at the weekend by cultists, saying it happened in a separate attacks.

Aya said the it was cases of homicide and that the police were investigating the matter.

According to him, from the look of things, the attack was cult-related as the five students killed were butchered with machetes.
