  • As NIS deports, bans 7 Koreans for life

COMPTROLLER General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mohammed Babandede has set up and dispatched a special team to Alausa Passport Office Lagos to assist clear the backlog of passport applications.

This is just as our portal has learnt that the service has started sending out notifications to applicants whose passport documents are ready at the Alausa office for them to start coming for collection from next week.

There has been a reduced level of collection of the passport document in recent times, with piles of documents abandoned at the office for various reasons and this spurred the Comptroller General of the NIS, Babandede to set up a special task force currently at Alausa Passport Office Lagos to clear the backlog of passport applications.

Assistant Comptroller General ACG in charge of Zone ‘A’ Mohammed Alfa who confirmed this in Lagos, stated that the task force has already commenced operations, and has assured applicants that all applications shall be cleared in a few days.

The ACG further disclosed that the Service as directed by the Comptroller General is determined to ensure that applicants get their passports as notification messages have already been sent to applicants whose passports are ready.

Meanwhile the service during the week deported seven nationals of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and banned them for life.

The deported Koreans include; Jo Sun Phil, Jang Sung Chol, Che Chun Hyok, Pak Yong Gon, R I Yong Il and Ri Hak Su.
Public Relations’ Officer (PRO), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Sunday James, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

“The Comptroller General, NIS Mr Muhammad Babandede, has carried out the deportation of seven DPRK nationals from Nigeria for life,” he said.

James said that they were deported by the order of the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola based on the powers conferred on him by the Immigration Act 2015.

He said that they were deported to their country of origin with the available flight on Oct. 15, 2019, through Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, urging the general public to take note.
