Shi’ites stage protest at Abuja Mosque over alleged death of their members in police - Edoman - 07-26-2019 Shi’ites stage protest at Abuja Mosque over alleged death of their members in police custody Aggrieved members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ites, today staged a peaceful protest in front of the Mosque in Zone 3, Abuja, demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah. The protesting Shi'ites alleged that some of its members arrested by the Nigerian Police during the bloody clash on Monday July 22nd, have died in police custody. One of the leaders of the Movement, Abdullahi Musa, said their members have been admonished not to provoke security personnel who are maintaining law and order, instead, they should focus on the protest with their placards. According to Musa, reliable information available to the sect indicates that their members in police custody have died. Quote:''Reliable and verifiable information reaching us revealed that Nigeria Police have detained Free Zakzaky protesters including female and underage protesters, since Monday, July22, 2019 with life-threatening injuries and denied them access to food, medication and family members.
