Now, Chris has come forward and announced that he proposed to Katherine -- and she said yes!

Chris concluded his caption with three emojis.

The first was of an engagement ring.

The third of a small and tasteful black heart emoji.

The second was of a pair of hands clasped together to convey gratitude.

It is unclear if he was simply thankful or using the emoji, as many do, to represent prayer -- possibly thankful prayer.

The world first learned of this couple's relationship in June of 2018.

The couple met through Katherine's mother, Maria Shriver.

As we reported at the time, TMZ had spotted Chris and Katherine on a date in Santa Barbara.

Their picnic date began with Chris stopping by Katherine's place and driving her up the coast.

Though Chris had been flirty from time to time, this was believed to be his first actual relationship since his split with Anna Faris.

And now the two of them are engaged.

People reports that an inside source very recently told them that an engagement seemed imminent.

"They’re both serious about the relationship and hopeful for the future," the insider reported.

"Chris doesn’t just date to date, and neither does Katherine," the source characterized. "She’s very excited."

"Chris and Katherine are very happy together," the insider added.

"They’re very compatible," the source concluded. "And have a lot in common."

Even months before Chris and Katherine's engagement, people were buzzing about the possibility of marriage.

People couldn't help but remark that they seemed like a perfect fit.

Famously, Katherine's father is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is the former Governor of California.

He is also an outspoken Republican -- though, like the majority of Americans, firmly anti-Trump.

Like Arnold, Chris has broad shoulders and a lot of conservative fans.

Some have pointed out that this could make him an ideal fit for the Schwarzenegger family.

But is he actually a Republican?

Chris Pratt has never actually stated his political views, except to state that he does not feel represented by either side or the aisle.

Most of what earned him the nickname "Republican Chris" is the considerable chunk of his fanbase who are conservaties.

Chris is outspoken about his Christian faith, which became meaningful to him as a young adult in Hawaii.

He and some family erected a massive cross on his property several years ago to celebrate Easter.

But the political right does not have a monopoly on being devoutly religious or devoutly Christian.

It sounds like Chris may have some moderate views, or a foot in both worlds -- which could make him and Katherine fit together nicely.

But relationships are built on compatibility and joy, and political views are only one facet of that.
