De Gea, Paul Pogba and Lukaku to leave Man Utd if Solskjaer didn’t qualify for Champions League

David De Gea, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku will all consider leaving Manchester United this summer if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League, according to the UK Guardian.

United were knocked out of Europe earlier in the month by Barcelona and with four league matches remaining, they are sixth in the Premier League.

The Red Devils will need help from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham to finish in the top four, especially after Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Everton.

Missing out on Champions League qualification will have major consequences as goalkeeper De Gea, midfielder Pogba and striker Lukaku would all consider summer departures.

Talks over a contract extension for De Gea have stalled and the Spaniard is believed to be interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Pogba was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer and returning Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has expressed his admiration for the Frenchman this month.

Lukaku has lost his place in United’s starting line-up to Marcus Rashford and the absence of Champions League football could be the final straw for the Belgian striker.

EPL: Solskjaer in crisis meeting at Old Trafford after 4-0 loss to Everton

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, held a crisis meeting with his assistant, Mike Phelan, following their humiliating defeat to Everton, the Daily Mail reports.

Solskjaer’s men were beaten 4-0 by Marco Silva’s side last Sunday.

The Norwegian was forced to apologise for a performance, which led to severe criticism from fans and pundits.

It is understood that an inquest continued at the Carrington training base on Monday, with Solskjaer leading a team meeting which lasted an hour.

After putting the players through their paces, it is claimed Solskjaer and Phelan held a meeting, in which the club’s recruitment and transfer strategy was discussed.

My season is over – Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi

                        [Image: Hudson-Odoi-e1556011241328.jpg?resize=700%2C394&ssl=1]
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi confirmed on social media that his season is over after he ruptured his Achilles’ tendon during Monday night’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Burnley.

The 18-year-old was helped off the pitch shortly before halftime and said on Twitter that he would play no further part in Chelsea’s campaign.

“Really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles, gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season,” he said on Twitter.

The injury rules Hudson-Odoi out of Chelsea’s last three Premier League games of the season, against Manchester United, Watford, and Leicester City.

He will also miss their Europa League semi-final against Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt, the first leg of which is on May 2.

The draw with Burnley lifted Chelsea up to fourth in the Premier League table, a point above fifth-placed Arsenal, who have 66 points with a game in hand.

RE: Sports Update - Edoman - 04-24-2019

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is amazed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's pre-derby warning to his Manchester United players that they should be ready to be kicked at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning Solskjaer said: "There will be fouls. They will snap at your ankles and heels and kick you."

"Did he say that? With 65% or 70% possession, how do we do that?" said Guardiola.

"I don't like it. My side is not built like that, not at all."
Guardiola has previously denied accusations he tells his teams to commit 'tactical fouls' to halt opposition counter-attacks.

Privately, City are bemused at United letting Solskjaer speak about the issue, mainly because the statistics do not back up the Norwegian's view.

According to Opta, City have conceded 170 free-kicks, excluding off-sides, in the opposition half so far this season. In contrast, United have conceded 195.

In addition, City have amassed 38 yellow cards and one red in the Premier League this season - for United, the figures are 64 and four.

"In 10 seasons as a manager, I never prepared for a game thinking about these things. Never," insisted Guardiola.

"In football, you sometimes do that [foul] because the actions are so fast. But I never said we should do it to punish an opponent or cancel them. Maybe after the game you can ask him in the press conference."

'Solskjaer's comments won't influence referee'

In November, Guardiola was given a formal warning by the Football Association for speaking about referee Anthony Taylor before the previous Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium, which City won 3-1.

In October, Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez was fined £60,000 for comments he made about Andre Marriner before a goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Marriner will be in charge at Old Trafford and, as FA rules specifically forbid managers speaking about referees prior to matches, Solskjaer risked a sanction when he said: "They [City] commit so many players forward and you can clearly see that they've got them in that mould of trying to win the ball back, and they do make fouls.

"It's up to us to play through that press, be ready, play one and two-touch, don't give them time. If you spend two or three touches… it's not my decision, it's the referee's responsibility to do that."

Asked if those comments could influence Marriner, Guardiola said: "That's the reason why, of course.

"But I don't think it will be successful because we don't do it."

Raheem Sterling will pay for the funeral of Crystal Palace youth player Damary Dawkins, who died in March aged 13.

Manchester City winger Sterling supported a campaign to find a suitable stem cell donor for Damary, who had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

"Damary was a special young man who touched a lot of lives, including my own," Sterling said.

The England international, 24, plans to attend the funeral on Friday.

He described Damary as "an example to us all" who was "positive until the end".

The teenager's family had set up a GoFundMe page to raise £15,000 to give Damary the "best send off and celebration of life".

In March, Sterling lifted his shirt to reveal a picture of the two of them together after scoring his second goal in England's 5-0 win over the Czech Republic.

Damary's father, Tony, said Sterling's shirt tribute was "very, very touching".

"I knew they used to speak because [Sterling] came down to the hospital," he said. "They played pool together and apparently they swapped numbers."

"I remember when Crystal Palace played Manchester City and they lost - Damary put on his tracksuit with the Crystal Palace badge and took a picture to send to Raheem. They had banter with each other."

According to an appeal page, Damary did receive a stem cell match a few days before Christmas but he relapsed in February.

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri charged with misconduct by English FA

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following his late dismissal in Monday’s 2-2 draw with Burnley.

The 60-year-old Italian has until Friday to answer to the charge. Sarri’s assistant Gianfranco Zola claimed after the match that the decision to send his compatriot to the stands was unfair as he “was just trying to tell our players to get in position”

“Maurizio Sarri has been charged with misconduct in relation to his behaviour in the 94th minute of Monday’s (22/04/2019) Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Burnley. The Chelsea manager has until 18:00 (1700 GMT) on Friday (26/04/2019) to provide a response” the FA said.

Sarri’s expulsion comes as pressure mounts on him to deliver Champions League football for next season. His compatriot Antonio Conte was sacked after failing to do so last season.

Chelsea occupy the fourth and final qualifying place but the two dropped points at home against lowly Burnley could prove costly. They are only a point better off than Arsenal, who can leapfrog them later on Wednesday if they get at least a draw at Wolves.

EPL: Gary Neville claims Pogba no longer wants to play for Manchester United

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has observed that Paul Pogba does not want to play for the club again.

According to Neville, Pogba has had his head turned by all the transfer talk linking him to Real Madrid.
“I think he is world class. I don’t think he wants to be here, that’s his problem. I think his agent’s into him.

“I said two, three months ago when he was brilliant, he’s done brilliantly for Ole, by the way, he’s scored I think 11 goals, seven assists, but I honestly thought a couple of months ago we sat in this studio at the Liverpool game and everything was brilliant about Paul Pogba and I said ‘I believe that it will resurface, the issues will resurface’.
“We know his agent, we know the influence he has on him, we know that Pogba has got his head turned by other clubs and he’s playing like somebody who’s had his head turned.
“He’s playing like somebody who doesn’t quite want to be here.

“The problem is if a player doesn’t want to be at a club and he has the influence that I think he has in the dressing room, I think the likes of [Jesse] Lingard, [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, I think they do come off him.
“And I think if he’s not quite at it and not raring to go, then it is a problem, it is a massive problem,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
Pogba is tied to a contract with United through to 2021, with that agreement including a 12-month extension option.

EPL: Solskjaer reveals best team in England, speaks on Man United vs Chelsea
[img=46x0]https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/19dddca81798c9b67c6b86201fc179ea?s=46&d=mm&r=g[/img]

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made no attempt to disguise the distinction between his team and Manchester City, describing Pep Guardiola’s side as “the best team in the country” after they won 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

“They have set the standard in the last two seasons and I don’t know how many points they’ve taken,” Reuters quoted the Norwegian to have said during his post-match press conference on Wednesday.
“What Pep Guardiola has done with his players is remarkable and we are so close to it, in the vicinity so we feel it every day.”

Solskjaer had demanded that his players react to their 4-0 loss to Everton on Sunday and United did begin the match with aggression, battling hard until City went ahead through Bernardo Silva in the 54th minute.
“We got a reaction and in the end we were beaten by a better team. But we got a reaction from fans and players and had a go.
“You can see the work rate was there, it wasn’t good enough though.

“The players wanted to show they really care. The first half was positive; we were pleased at the break.
“Unfortunately, we conceded two sloppy goals in the second half that could have been avoided.
“Everyone can see what City has done over the last few years,” said the United boss.

City strolled to victory in the second half with United flagging as they chased after a stream of precise passes from Guardiola’s side.
“There is a difference in quality. That is why they are top and we are where we are. They have set the standard. Living in Manchester we cannot be happy with that.
“It is up to us to close that gap and overtake them,” said Solskjaer.

“Today you can’t say that any of them didn’t run. You could see clearly an intent and focus. We just need to keep working on it,” he said.
United have lost seven of their last nine games in all competitions, a run of form which contrasts markedly with the positive start to Solskjaer’s reign in December.
A Champions League spot remains within their grasp, however, with United in sixth place, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who they play on Sunday.

“In the short term, we are still in the race for the top four and we know we must deliver a good performance against Chelsea,” said Solskjaer.

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has told the club to sign Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola when their current coach, Max Allegri eventually leaves the Old Lady.

Il Giornale reports that Ronaldo, being an admirer of Guardiola, wants the former Barcelona boss to succeed Allegri at Juventus.
Allegri’s job at Juventus is under consideration following the club’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League by Ajax a few weeks ago.

The Italian, who currently has less than a year in his current deal at Juventus, led his side to secure their eighth straight Serie A title last week.
Guardiola has won the Premier League title and two League Cups since joining Man City from Bayern Munich in 2016.

Guardiola’s side are currently in pole position to win this season’s Pre

EPL: Eden Hazard’s deal with Real Madrid revealed

[Image: Hazard-Hudson-Odoi-vs-Brighton-Apr2019.jpg]
Eden Hazard will be offered £400,000-a-week to join Real Madrid this summer and a new house, the UK Sun reports.

The Belgian superstar is ready to quit Chelsea and has his heart set on a move to Spain.
Zinedine Zidane is back in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu and is planning to overhaul his squad after this season.

Hazard is top of his wish list and Zidane is also said to want Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
For Hazard, Madrid will sweeten the deal, by throwing in a luxury property and help with his relocation costs.
Chelsea won’t stand in the player’s way, but expect the LaLiga giants to get near their £95million valuation, even though Hazard’s contract expires in summer 2020.

EPL: Roy Keane blames five Manchester United players for 2-0 defeat to Man City

Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane has blamed the club’s back-four and midfielder, Fred, following the Red Devils’ 2-0 Premier League derby defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane gave Pep Guardiola’s side all three points against Man United at Old Trafford.
Keane, working as a pundit on Sky Sports, blamed the five players for their lacklustre performance against the visitors.

He said: “The back four… I don’t think Shaw is up to it, Young is not a full-back. The two centre-halves, take it from there. As long as you’ve got a decent keeper and back four, it’s tough going.

“The foundation if you’re going to win trophies… Look how many points they are behind, 25 points, It’s mind-boggling.”

Keane added: “Look at Fred for the goal. That’s not giving your all. It’s cheating. What he has done was cheating, letting the guy run off him.”
The defeat to Man City means that Man United are now in the sixth position on the Premier League table with 64 points from 35 games.

Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell acquitted of money laundering after spending nearly two years in prison.

Former Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, has been acquitted of money laundering charges after spending nearly two years in prison.
Rosell alongside his wife and four others, were accused of laundering fees for broadcast rights to Brazil’s matches and a sponsorship contract with Nike.
According to Mail Online Sports News, Court officials in Madrid say there was not enough evidence for a guilty verdict on charges related to the sale of television rights for matches involving the Brazilian national soccer team.
Rosell was in custody for more than 21 months after being accused of misappropriating funds coming from the sale of TV rights and the organization of friendly matches featuring Brazil. There were also questions over a sponsorship contract between Nike and Brazil.
Spanish prosecutors were seeking a six-year prison sentence for Rosell, who was also accused of forming part of a criminal organization, including laundering nearly 20 million euros ($22 million) related to commissions for Brazil matches.
But the 55-year-old always maintained his innocence, and now his allies have slammed the authorities of holding him for so long if he did not commit the crime, saying it's a miscarriage of justice.
Rosell was the president of FC Barcelona from 2010 to 2014 before stepping down over alleged irregularities stemming from Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona.

Manager Jurgen Klopp says seven more Liverpool players could have made the PFA Team of the Year and insists "my team is the team of the season".

The Reds saw Andrew Robertson, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and forward Sadio Mane selected in the PFA team, which is chosen by players.

Manchester City had six players included, while Manchester United's Paul Pogba completed the line-up.

"There could have been four, five, six or seven more involved," said Klopp.

"They played an outstanding season in so many moments. For me, my team is the team of the season anyway."

BBC Sport pundits Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink all agreed Pogba should not have been chosen.

Liverpool's Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who have both scored 19 league goals this season - were left out, as were Tottenham's Harry Kane and Chelsea's Eden Hazard, with 17 and 16 Premier League goals respectively.

"Mo would have deserved it again," added Klopp. "He's up there again with the top scorers and scored so many incredibly important goals for us.

"Gini Wijnaldum plays an incredible season, 100 per cent. Jordan Henderson is in a shape where if they would vote today then he would probably be in and stuff like that, so it's good."

Klopp spoke to media on Thursday having watched Manchester City return to the top of the Premier League with victory over Manchester United on Wednesday.

The German says he was "calm" after the fixture, which left his side second in the table and requiring City to drop points in their remaining three games if the Anfield club are to win a first league title since 1990.

"For me all is good and the decision is not made yet," added Klopp. "It's not that last night was the final game of the season. It was just another game for City. They deserved to win.

"It was the result I expected. United tried whatever they can, first half especially. Unlucky in one or two moments, but over 95 minutes it was clear they can't stand up to City at the moment.

"This is our first time trying to be champion, not the last time. Last season we were 25 points behind. It's all good and we will carry on.

"We don't need to summarise the season. If we win it, we win it. If we don't there are no regrets as long as we give our best, and that's what we've done all season."

Asked how United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can rebuild his side, Klopp answered: "They didn't help us, why should we help them?"

I’ll Give Iwobi AFCON Winning Tips – Okocha

Austin Okocha, has disclosed that he will give his nephew, Alex Iwobi AFCON winning tips in his first attempt at the  2019 Africa Cup of Nations in June.Okocha who was part of the winning Eagles team in 1994 at his maiden appearance at the AFCON finals, said he will give AFCON winning tips to Iwobi, his 22-year-old nephew who was born in Lagos to Okocha’s sister and arrived in the UK aged four. Iwobi had earlier expressed his desire to match his uncle Okocha by winning the AFCON which is a 24-team competition which will hold in Egypt from June 21 to July 19, at his first attempt.

Speaking about Iwobi, Okocha said; “I think he (Iwobi) has done so well since making his debut for the Eagles, and for me the good thing about him is that he can only get better. He’s a very humble young man willing to learn every day and that shows in his performance. He keeps getting better and improving each day, and I hope he will achieve that dream of winning it on his first try.”

He added, “Of course, I will try and chip in some advice for him to achieve that (win the AFCON). It’s a massive opportunity. I was thinking it was going to be easy to win it again after we won it in 1994 but it was not possible for the team until after I retired from football. So, it’s a massive opportunity and it is good for some of us to pass that information to all these young ones, for them to realise that you might only get one chance to win it.”

Lionel Messi netted the only goal, as Barcelona were crowned LaLiga champions on Saturday night.

Ernesto Valverde had dropped the Argentine maestro for the visit of Levante, but was forced to summoned him from the bench in the second half, as the game proved to be tougher than expected.
The win means Barca now have a nine-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid, who beat Real Valladolid earlier in the day.

With three rounds of fixtures left, Atletico cannot catch up with the Catalans anymore.
Messi and co. will now turn their attentions to the Champions League, where they play Liverpool in the semi-finals, for their second trophy of the season.

EPL: Victor Lindelof reveals how Man United can stop Chelsea’s Eden Hazard

Manchester United defender, Victor Lindelof, has revealed how his side can stop Chelsea star player, Eden Hazard, when both teams clash in Sunday’s Premier League fixture at Old Trafford.

Lindelof said that one of the ways Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men can stop Hazard from doing something great against them is by not giving the Belgium international too much space.
“Don’t give him [Eden Hazard] too much space because he will do something great, he’s a fantastic player,” Lindelof told the United Review.

“He’s shown that for a lot of years now. You have to stay close to him and don’t let him have any space with the ball facing our goal.”

Lindelof added: “They’re just a very good team with some fantastic players. Even if they have a bad day, they still have very good individual players who can create chances from almost nothing.
“They’re very good in possession so you have to be really focused when you’re defending. You can’t give them too much space. They’re a good team but we’ll be ready for this game.’

Man United are currently in sixth position on the Premier League table but will level with fourth-placed Chelsea on 67 points if they beat the Blues.

Neymar’s dream of playing with Hazard could happen – Zidane
[Image: zidane.jpg]

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has hinted that Eden Hazard and Neymar could play together under him.

Earlier this week, Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar spoke of his desire to play with Chelsea star, Hazard, who is believed to be on his way to Spain.
When asked if Neymar could realise his wish of featuring in the same side as Hazard in Spain, Zidane told a press conference on Saturday: “Yes. A lot of players want to come here and play for Real Madrid, but let’s see what happens in the future.

Refusing to let the Hazard go, reporters pushed Zidane for an answer on whether Hazard could fit in a side with Gareth Bale, as rumours continue to swirl that the Welsh winger would be on the move in the summer.
“Yes! All the good players can play together. People told me that I wasn’t compatible with [fellow World Cup winner, Yuri] Djorkaeff. What a lot of nonsense, man!”
“You can see that Bale is happy. Whether he plays or doesn’t play… he’s had playing time under me. At the end of the season we’ll see what’s what. I’m not the one who says what Gareth has to do now. He’s a player who’s part of our plans.

“He has played and he will play more before the end of the season,” Zidane replied.

Manchester United vs Chelsea: Solskjaer’s squad for crucial EPL clash revealed

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, could be without Scott McTominay again this weekend when Chelsea visit.

But both Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are pushing for returns to the starting lineup.
United face the Blues at Old Trafford on Sunday, knowing that only a win will realistically keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

David De Gea will keep his place despite poor recent form, while compatriot Ander Herrera is back in full training after missing the last six games with a hamstring injury.
Antonio Valencia has been suffering with a knee injury, but has been training at Carrington this week.
Eric Bailly hasn’t played since March due to a knock picked up on international duty and is unlikely to feature also.
Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Grant; Dalot, Darmian, Young, Shaw, Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling, Herrera, Fred, Matic, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Martial, Sanchez, Lukaku, Rashford.
